For the longest time I’ve tried to start journaling. Many times I would write a few days in a row only to taper off after a week or so. I would come up with excuses as to why, but that’s all that they were. Excuses. It was easy to tell myself that it was because I was too busy, or that I was too forgetful. Now I realize that there is more to it.

We are all authors writing our own story that we call life. I’ve held this to be true for a while, and only now as I write this does this perspective shine light on the lack of longevity in my writing. Putting the story of my day on pages became difficult because I too often wasted them. So I would rather not waste a page on a wasted day. I made this a pattern and in a moment of thick headedness I missed the lesson buried in my wayward writing habits. As opposed to changing my approach to each day, I just stopped recording them.

So here I am now after a few years of this. Don’t get me wrong I am happy with my life. I just realize that I can do better at using the time I’ve been given. That’s what I am going to strive to do as I soon enter a new chapter in my life.

Poetic Cosmos was an experimental solar dome launched at dawn on September 22, 2007, in Gunpowder Park, Essex. Saraceno’s utopian vision for cities that float in the air—transforming and joining together like clouds—led him to create a series of experimental structures such as balloons or inflatable modular platforms that could be inhabited and exploit natural energies.
